Virtual Spring Summit

Chicagoland AGC looks forward to hosting this year's Virtual Spring Summit at noon on May 26th.  Join us as we honor this year's CAGC Safety Awards Program winners, network via Zoom, and hear a compelling keynote case study of an Indiana State Fair canopy collapse.  Kurt Hoigard, President of Raths, Raths & Johnson, will outline the deficiencies RRJ discovered during a detailed post-analysis that combined to cause this tragedy and how it could have been avoided.

As an advocate for safe construction performance, CAGC operates its Safety Awards program to recognize General and Specialty contractors for outstanding safety performance. In addition to announcing Safety Recognition recipients, awards will be presented in Safety Excellence, Safety Improvement, and Excellence in Innovation categories.


Presenter:  Kurt Hoigard is the President of Raths, Raths & Johnson, Inc., an engineering, architecture, and forensics consulting practice based in Chicago, and a leading industry expert with 35 years of experience in structural and building enclosure consulting, peer review, investigation, and repair design. He has consulted on significant building projects involving facade leakage, condensation, material failure evaluations, construction quality assurance, curtain wall performance testing, and collapse investigations. A licensed PE in more than 30 states, Kurt is a Fellow of ASTM International and received both his Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology. In 2019 and 2020, Kurt was named by Who’s Who Legal: Construction as among the world's leading Expert Witnesses, and in 2019 received the Lawyer Monthly Magazine, Expert Witness Award in Construction-USA.
